Inspiring the Next Generation of Tradespeople

When the Canadian Homebuilders Association of BC launched an initiative to inspire young people to explore careers in trades, I had the chance to design a suite of marketing materials to help spread the word. With a growing demand for skilled workers and over 100 trades to choose from, this campaign was all about showing students the exciting opportunities available in BC’s trades industry.

The challenge

Design a set of materials that would engage and inform high school students across BC, sparking interest in pursuing a trade and applying to colleges offering specialized training. The goal was to create assets that were visually compelling and communicated the value of a career in the trades.

The solution

Working within the vibrant brand guidelines from a boutique agency, I designed a collection of marketing collateral, including:

  • Bold, eye-catching billboards
  • Informative one-pagers
  • Engaging flyers

The result

These materials are now being used in high schools across the province, encouraging students to explore careers in trades and apply to colleges. The campaign not only looked great, but also provided a practical toolkit to help future tradespeople navigate their career paths.

Takeways

This project was a great reminder of how powerful creative collaboration can be in making a real-world impact. It was a rewarding experience to contribute to a campaign that helps students explore rewarding career opportunities while celebrating the trades that help build our communities.
